PPL presents $20,000 check for Tamaqua revitalization

PPL Electric continues to support the revitalization efforts of the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership. Melinda Stumpf, PPL Regional Affairs Director, visited Tamaqua on Tuesday to present the partnership with a check for $20,000, a portion of the five-year, $50,000 pledge the utility made during a 2013 capital campaign. The campaign raised funds for the creation of the Tamaqua Community Arts Center, the purchase and renovations of 27 Center St. and the former Tiki Bar on Mauch Chunk Street, and renovations to the Tamaqua Historical Society's Museum. This was Stumpf's first visit to Tamaqua and she was given a tour of the revitalization efforts by Micah Gursky, TACP treasurer. Also pictured is Mike Mundy, artcenter volunteer.
