Deer goes through windshield on Turnpike

A New York woman was injured Thursday afternoon while driving along the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania turnpike. The incident occurred just after noon as she was traveling north about three miles north of the Mahoning interchange. She struck a deer which penetrated her windshield. The woman was struck by flying glass and treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics. The deer was impaled in the windshield and died at the scene.
