A motorcyclist was seriously injured Sunday afternoon when involved in a crash in the 1200 block of Valley Road in Walker Township.

The crash occurred at 4 p.m. as the biker was traveling west at what area residents report as being a very high rate of speed. The driver lost control leaving the right berm then sliding down the roadway with the bike with the unit coming to rest in a field and the victim coming to rest across the roadway on a lawn.

The victim was treated at the scene by members of the Tamaqua ambulance. Members of the East End Fire Company of Tamaqua established at landing zone at the Walker Township municipal building for Penn Star helicopter.

State police at Frackville are investigating the incident.
