Rush finalizes new park

During a meeting Thursday, Rush Township supervisors signed the documents which finalize ownership of a new public park.

The Grier City Union Sunday School Association is donating the eight-acre park, which includes volleyball and tennis courts, a baseball field and pavilion.There is also a playground but the township will have to remove the playground equipment, which does not meet state standards for public parks.In other action, the supervisors accepted the resignation of secretary/ treasurer Denise Hope, who has taken another job, and hired Katie Orlick to the position. Orlick is from West Penn Township. The supervisors also hired full-time road department employee Lance Frantz of Delano.During public comment, Charlie Shamonsky, Meadow Avenue, said that the sidewalks in front of his house are deteriorating, although they were installed just last year. He also complained about potholes in the township.Joe Shamonsky said he likes the potholes."I congratulate the supervisors," he said. "You've finally found a way to get the traffic to slow down."
