11 defendants admit to DUI

Eleven defendants in pending driving under the influence cases entered guilty pleas to those counts on last Thursday in Carbon County court.

Judge Steven R. Serfass accepted the pleas from the following:Wendy L. Danforth, 29, of Lehighton, was arrested on Dec. 3, 2014, by state police at Lehighton in the parking lot of the Dunkin' Donuts in Lehighton.Police were called by employees of the restaurant for a woman asleep in her vehicle for a long period of time. Troopers found Danforth in the car, with engine running, and under the influence. Her 12-year-old daughter was also in the vehicle. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so she could get a D&A evaluation.Cody Ryan Sallada, 23, of Lehighton, was arrested on Sept. 12, 2014, along Second Street in Lehighton by state police at Lehighton. A test showed 0.11 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so Sallada could obtain a drug and alcohol evaluation.Zachery M. Koehler, 29, of Northampton, formerly of Lehighton, was arrested on Aug. 17, 2012, by Mahoning Township police along Route 209. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance. He also pleaded to one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.He was previously placed in the county's Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program for first-time offenders but was revoked for violating conditions.Sentencing was deferred so he could obtain a D&A evaluation.Luis Edgardo Padilla Jr., 34, of Allentown, was arrested on Aug. 16, 2014, along Route 443 in Lehighton by state police at Lehighton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so he could obtain a D&A evaluation.Francis L. Lockwood, 26, of Lehighton, was arrested on Nov. 22, 2013, along First Street in Lehighton by state police at Lehighton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so he could obtain a D&A evaluation.Mel Gregory Eckman, 24, of Lehighton, was arrested on Nov. 6, 2014, along Second St., Lehighton, by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result showed the presence of a controlled substance.Serfass placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300, and render 25 hours of community service.George H. Neumann III, 41, of Lehighton, was arrested on Jan. 17 along Route 209 by Lehighton police. A test showed a 0.19 BAC.Serfass placed him on probation for six months and ordered he pay a fine of $300 and render 25 hours of community service.Jordan Alese Grammes, 21, of Albrightsville, was arrested on Aug. 29, 2014, along Mauch Chunk Street by Mahoning Township police. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred so Grammes could obtain a comprehensive D&A evaluation.Rafael Gonzalez, 51, of Allentown, was arrested on June 19, 2014, along Route 209 in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. A test showed the presence of a controlled substance.Sentencing was deferred for Gonzalez to get a comprehensive D&A evaluation.Randy Charles Gressler, 50, of Lehighton, was arrested on Dec. 3, 2014, along Route 209 in Lehighton by state police at Lehighton. A test showed 0.09 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so he could get a D&A evaluation.Mark Edward Yanoski, 46, of Tamaqua, formerly of Lake Harmony, was arrested on Feb. 18, 2012, along Route 903 by Jim Thorpe police. A test showed 0.15 BAC.Sentencing was deferred so he could obtain a comprehensive D&A evaluation.Those sentenced must also pay court costs of about $1,000, and a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation.
