Two people were seriously injured in a crash along Route 209 in Franklin Township Monday morning.

The crash occurred around 11:15 a.m. as the vehicle was traveling north. The car crossed roadway, climbing an earth embankment before rolling down coming to rest on its roof.

The victims were freed by members of the Franklin Township Fire Company, then treated by Lehighton paramedics.

They were both flown from the scene. Route 209 was closed for several hours.
