Police seeking man charged with DUI

Mahoning Township police have issued an arrest warrant against Thomas Kolb, 40, of Weissport, as a result of a driving under the influence accident investigation involving drugs, and alcohol.

Police said the crash took place at 4:02 p.m. Jan. 23 on Route 902 (Mill Road), near the border of Summit Hill Borough.Police said a 1993 Chevrolet pickup traveling north towards Summit Hill crossed the center line, striking a southbound Kia Sportage.The roadway was closed for approximately an hour while the vehicle drivers were extricated by the Lehighton, Mahoning and Summit Hill Fire departments. Each driver was flown by medical helicopter for treatment of their injuries.Police said the driver of the Kia, Timothy Kistler of West Penn Township, suffered a right femoral neck fracture; open right femoral shaft fracture; right patella fracture; and other various injuries.Police said Kolb was driving the pickup and admitted he had used marijuana and alcohol.A blood test showed a blood-alcohol level of 0.18 percent, in addition to the presence of Delta-9 Carboxy THC.Police arrested Kolb for aggravated assault by vehicle while DUI, a felony count, and four misdemeanor charges of DUI, a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and three summary offenses, including careless driving, driving on roadways laned for traffic and driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.Anyone with information on the whereabouts of Kolb is asked to contact Mahoning Township Police or 911.
