Investigation to resume Saturday in Summit Hill

The 300 and 400 block of W. Ludlow St. in Summit Hill will again be closed starting at 8:30 a.m. Saturday.

The FBI and various law enforcement agencies were on hand today investigating a residence at 416 W. Ludlow St.

Mark Nalesnik, Carbon County Emergency Management Agency coordinator and the public information officer for the incident, said the fire department received a call from a family member that they had discovered a lot of questionable items in the basement of 416 W. Ludlow St.

According to various records, the home is owned by Paul Yuricheck and his son, Jude.

Pennsylvania State Police's bomb unit was called in to investigate the materials. They in turn contacted the FBI.

Nalesnik said a detailed list of items in question was not available at this time, but said some were believed to be hazardous materials.

At 6 a.m. today, the 400 block of West Ludlow Street was shut down so a secure perimeter could be set up while Lehigh County Special Operations personnel analyzed the materials being brought from the home by agents.

Summit Hill Police Chief Joseph Fittos said the FBI agents are in charge of the scene and expected crews to be on scene for most of the day.

Fittos said once the investigation is complete, the teams will decided if charges should be filed.
