Man missing from Towamensing nudist camp found in stable condition

A man who went missing from a clothing-optional campground in Lehighton was located just after 5:30 p.m., about a quarter mile from were searchers were set up.

Emergency and rescue personnel converged on The Woods, located at 3500 Forest St. in Towamensing Township, Wednesday morning in the search for Michael O'Keefe, 56, who had been missing since Monday morning.O'Keefe's truck and tent with belongings remain at the campground.The man was located and taken to a nearby hospital to be checked out.Crews assisting Towamensing Township Fire Company, included Franklin Township Fire Department, Palmerton Fire Department, Lehighton Fire Department, Polk Township Fire Department, Northeast Search & Rescue, Carbon County Emergency Management Agency, and several K-9 units assisting in the search. Lehigh and Lausanne Fire Department were on hand to assist rescue workers.State police had conducted a helicopter search as well.Carbon County Emergency Management Coordinator Mark Nalesnik said he's concerned for the safety of everyone."My main concern is the safety of our responders because of the wooded terrain, hazardous conditions," Nalesnik said. "They do such a great job, and I'm concerned about their safety."

Michael O'Keefe had been missing since Monday.
