Elderly Monroe man dies in crash Tuesday

An elderly Monroe County man died in a three-vehicle crash on Tuesday.

State police at Lehighton said the crash occurred about 10:40 a.m. along Old Route 115, at Anchorage Road, in Ross Township.Troopers said Charles J. Kuruc, 68, of Easton, driving a 2008 Chevrolet pickup, and Sandra L. Hill, 66, of Saylorsburg, driving a 2009 Jeep station wagon, were both northbound on 115 approaching Anchorage Road. At the same time Paul T. Hosking, 82, of Saylorsburg, was driving a 2014 Chevrolet sedan southbound and approaching the intersection.Troopers said Hill slowed to a stop at the intersection, attempting to turn left after Hosking passed. Kuruc failed to realize Hill was stopping and swerved into the southbound lane directly into the path of Hosking. The impact occurred in the intersection.Hosking was pronounced dead at the scene. Kuruc was injured and taken to Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg. Hill was not injured.The road was closed for about three hours. Assisting troopers were volunteers from the Blue Ridge and West End fire companies, West End ambulance personnel, PennDOT and the county coroner's office.Damages were severe to Kuruc and Hosking's vehicles and minor to Hill's vehicle.
