A Georgia truck driver was killed in a two-vehicle crash in Lehigh County on Monday. State police at Fogelsville said the crash occurred along Interstate 78 in Upper Saucon Township, about 2 p.m.

Troopers said Jeffrey E. Spatcher, 45, of Folkston, was driving a 2011 Freightliner Cascada tractor with trailer, and Dwight Francis, 34, of Brooklyn, New York, was operating a 2009 Mack CXU truck with trailer. Both were eastbound with Spatcher behind Francis.Traffic conditions at the time were heavy and for no known reason traffic slowed. Francis slowed due to the conditions with Spatcher driving his rig into the rear of Francis' truck. Upon impact Spatcher was ejected from his truck. He was pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner's office.Francis was taken to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, for treatment of moderate injuries, troopers said.Anyone who may have witnessed this crash is asked to call troopers at 610-395-1438.
