Rep. Julie Harhart, R-Lehigh/Northampton, has once again authored legislation to help boost donations for area food banks, with the introduction and House passage of a resolution designating May 9 as National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive Day in Pennsylvania.

This is the 23rd anniversary of the National Association of Letter Carriers Food Drive Day. Last year, local letter carriers delivered more than 330,000 pounds of food to Second Harvest and its member agencies for distribution to families in Carbon, Lehigh, Monroe, Northampton, Pike and Wayne counties. The drive collected 72.5 million pounds for families across the entire nation.For more information, visit
