Blood Drive

Miller-Keystone Blood Center will conduct a Palmerton-area community blood drive from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday at the First United Church of Christ, next to Palmerton Borough Hall. This drive is sponsored by Joyce Martin, Nancy Nothstein and Paula Semmel in memory of Jean Behler, a longtime blood drive volunteer. The Palmerton area is fortunate to have a number of loyal donors who show up for nearly every drive. However, more donors are always needed to replace those who are ill or away.Anyone over 17 years old, weighing at least 110 pounds and in general good health is eligible. There is no maximum age. What's in it for you as a donor? First, a free mini-physical: pulse, temperature, blood pressure, blood iron level. Second, extra refreshments: Freshly made sandwiches (two kinds) and Dunkin Donuts, in addition to the snacks and soft drinks that Miller provides. Third, and most important: the satisfaction that your donation can save up to three lives.Eligible high school students who didn't donate at PAHS in April, or who were deferred then, are invited to join the adults at this drive. If you are a first-time Miller-Keystone donor, please bring photo ID such as a driver's license. Previous donors, please bring your Miller-Keystone cards. For more information, or to make an appointment, call George Ashman at 610-826-2097, or email
