CYO District 5 held its annual Spelling at St. Jerome Regional School, Tamaqua, on April 19. Participating schools included St. Jerome's, McAdoo Catholic, SS. Peter and Paul of Lehighton, St. Joseph Regional Academy of Jim Thorpe and Our Lady of Angels Academy of Lansford. Contests were held for students in second, third, fourth and fifth grades.

Second-grade winners were: Delia Winas, St. John Neumann Regional School, first place; Ignatius Neifert, St. Jerome Regional School, second place; and Dante Kalbach, St. Joseph Regional Academy, third place.Third-grade winners were: Stephen Behun, Our Lady of the Angels Academy, first place; Tori Moore, St. Joseph Regional Academy, second place; and Matthew Kelshaw, Our Lady of the Angels Academy, third place.Winners representing the fourth grade were: Xamantha Descallar, St. Joseph Regional Academy, first place; Christopher Ross, St. John Neumann Regional School, second place; and Isabella Maiello, St. Jerome Regional School, third place.Top spellers in fifth grade were: Elizabeth Snerr, St. Joseph Regional Academy, first place; Brayden Feisel, Our Lady of the Angels Academy, second place; and Cecilia Sarnowski, St. Joseph Regional Academy, third place.
