Monroe man is facing firearms charges

A Monroe County man is facing firearms-related charges.

Pocono Mountain Regional police identified the suspect as William Winecker, 23, of 2206 Allegheny Drive, Sierra Viewdevelopment, in Tunkhannock Township.According to the police report at 11:24 a.m. April 24 after receiving credible information indicating Winecker possessed firearms, a search warrant was executed on his residence.During the search police seized several firearms, firearm parts, records pertaining to firearms, marijuana and drug paraphernalia. In addition, the search uncovered disturbing statements as to what Winecker might do with the firearms. Police did not elaborate on those statements.Winecker was arrested without incident and charged with criminal conspiracy to straw purchase and persons not to possess firearms (felony), firearms act-sale/transfer false writing statement/government form (felony), and persons not to possess firearms, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors.Police said the investigation also revealed that Winecker's mother, Brenda Hrubesh, 56, recentlypurchased a firearm for Winecker. Charges are pending against her, police said.Winecker was arraigned before District Judge Richard Claypool of Pocono Pines and committed to the county prison in Snydersville after failing to post bail.
