Francis P. Crossin, Kingston, a Luzerne County state representative, was the principal speaker at the annual Athletic Banquet of Jim Thorpe Joint Area High School, held in the social hall of St. John Lutheran Church in the Heights.

George Armbruster and Frank Gilotti were presented trophies emblematic of their selection as the most valuable players on the school's basketball and football squads. The presentations were made by Kenneth Kline and Louis DiGiacomo, varsity basketball and assistant football coach, respectively, on behalf of the Varsity Club.Angelo Konstas, varsity football coach, was unable to attend because his son Todd was hospitalized after being struck by an automobile.
