Rush Township will be getting a new public park, thanks to the generosity of the Grier City Union Sunday School Association.
The supervisors noted the pending land transfer during a meeting Thursday. Supervisor Robert Leibensperger said that the park size is about eight acres, and includes volleyball and tennis courts, a baseball field and pavillion. There is also a playground but the township will have to remove the playground equipment because it does not meet the standardsfor public parks, he explained.The supervisors authorized township solicitor Chris Reidlinger to proceed with the required paperwork for the land transfer.The township will be advertising for two full-time employees, one for the road department and the other for the sewer department. Sewer department employee Carl Yaccino is resigning effective April 24.Township residents can call the township building to schedule branch and leaf pickup. The deadline to schedule a pickup is the end of April, although the work may not be completed until May.
