Summit Hill man sent to state prison for DUI and assault counts

A Summit Hill man was sentenced to a state prison term on Monday on drunken driving and simple assault charges.

Judge Steven R. Serfass sentenced Lance Moser Jr., 25, to serve a total of 12 to 24 months in a state correctional institution on two counts of driving under the influence and one of simple assault. He previously pleaded guilty to the charges.Moser was arrested on the first DUI on Dec. 9, 2013, along Flagstaff Road by Jim Thorpe police after being involved in an accident. A blood test result revealed a 0.18 BAC.He was arrested on the second DUI on Oct. 31, 2014, along Susquehanna Street by Jim Thorpe police. He refused a blood test.The simple assault incident occurred on Sept. 14, 2014, in the area of 341 S. Second St. in Lehighton. Borough police charged Moser with striking a man in the face at that location.On the two DUI charges he was fined a total of $2,500 and his license was suspended for two and a half years.He was also ordered to render a total of 175 hours of community service when released on parole, get a drug and alcohol evaluation, zero tolerance imposed on D&A use, and pay court costs of about $1,000.He was given credit for a total of 165 days already spent in jail on the charges.
