Slatington man gets state prison term

A Slatington man was sentenced to a state prison term in Carbon County court on Monday on a drug charge.

Jonathan Matthew Schick, 26, was sentenced by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II to serve 12 to 36 months in a state correctional institution on a charge of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance-cocaine.Schick was arrested on Aug. 13, 2013, by agents of the state Attorney General's office after he sold an estimated 50 grams of cocaine to a confidential informant. The sale occurred in the area of 620 Franklin Ave. in Palmerton.At the time of his arrest, Schick had a backpack that contained not only cocaine and other drugs, but also drug paraphernalia.Schick was also ordered to get both a drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations and follow all recommendations for treatment, zero tolerance to D&A use, supply a DNA sample, and pay court costs of about $1,000.He was given credit for 13 days spent in jail on the charges. Schick is currently an inmate in the Lehigh County prison facing unrelated charges.
