A Monroe County man charged with DUI will have his case heard in Monroe County Court.
Dylan Rahmann, 24, of Saylorsburg, was scheduled to have a preliminary hearing March 27 before District Judge Colleen Mancuso of Brodheadsville.Instead, Rahmann opted to waive his right to the hearing.Rahmann faces charges of two counts of DUI, along with one count each of use/possession of drug paraphernalia, intentional possession of controlled substance, registration card not signed, failure to carry license, exceeded 55 mph zone by 30 mph, careless driving, and failure to use safety belt.He remains free in lieu of $5,000 unsecured bail.According to an affidavit filed by trooper Justin Magluilo of Pennsylvania State Police in Lehighton:Around 10 a.m. Nov. 29, Magluilo was on routine patrol on Route 209 near the Sciota Exit in Hamilton Township when he saw a 2005 blue Mazda 6 traveling south on 209 at 85 mph in a 55 mph zone.Magluilo stopped the vehicle by The Flag Store, 2361 Route 209 in Chestnuthill Township.While speaking with Rahmann, Magluilo noticed his speech to be slow and sluggish, and multiple eyelid and body tremors.Rahmann failed standard field sobriety tests and said he had recently consumed methadone.Magluilo placed him under arrest for DUI and secured him in his patrol vehicle. Magluilo observed in plain view near the front driver's seat of Rahmann's vehicle, a glassine baggie containing suspected heroin, and an empty glassine baggie.The items were seized and later entered into evidence at PSP Lehighton.At the DUI center, Rahmann agreed to a blood test, which showed the presence of methadone.
