Man is facing sex charges involving a minor

Pocono Mountain Regional Police have arrested a 20-year-old Albrightsville man on child pornography charges.

Police said James Hood of 618 Mountain Road was arraigned before Monroe County Magisterial District Judge Anthony Fluegel and committed to the Monroe County Correctional Facility in Snydersville, in lieu of $10,000 bail.He is charged with two counts of sexual abuse of children (production of child pornography), a first degree felony; two counts of sexual abuse of children (possession of child pornography), second degree felonies; one count of corruption of minor, a misdemeanor I; and two counts of invasion of privacy, misdemeanor 2 charges.Police said the charges relate to incidents that happened in March 2013 and June 2014. They were filed after police executed a search warrant at Hood's residence and seized evidence, including a cellphone.Police said the phone contained two pornographic photographs of a young female engaging in a sexual act with Hood.After identifying the minor, police said it was determined she was under the age of 18. Police said the minor told them Hood provided marijuana to her on two occasions. She told officials she was not aware Hood had taken photographs of her.The minor told authorities Hood told her he took the nude photographs of her and threatened to publish them to her parents and via social media outlets. Hood reportedly told the girl he had already showed the photographs to people.Police said they arrested Hood at 3:15 p.m. April 1 at the magisterial district court, where he was appearing for another hearing. He was represented by an attorney and waived his right to a preliminary hearing.Police said the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information about it is asked to contact the PMRP investigative unit, 570-895-2400.
