One hurt, power cut in Quakake truck rollover

Emergency responders are on the scene of a crash in Rush Township that injured one and cut power to at

least 18 customers.

Schuylkill Communications Center dispatched response units at 11 a.m. to the intersection of Fairview Street and Holly Road near the village of Quakake for a report of a truck rollover.

Those at the scene said the tractor-trailer apparently was traveling west when, for reasons unknown, crossed lanes and climbed an embankment before crashing into a utility pole and overturning.

The driver suffered what appeared to be neck or back injuries and was being tended to at the scene by paramedics with Ryan Township Ambulance.

The truck was carrying coal silt, which spilled onto the roadway.

Electricity has been cut to at least 18 customers in the vicinity, according to the PPL website.

Fairview Street, a heavily used connector between Routes 309 and 54, is closed from the area of Marian Avenue to Bernhard Road.

More information as it becomes available.
