Woman admits sex with teen

A Slatington woman admitted in Carbon County court to having sexual relations when a teenage boy.

Tracy Morey, 44, pleaded guilty Thursday before Judge Joseph J. Matika to one count of indecent assault, a misdemeanor two. In exchange for the plea to that count one count each of statutory sexual assault and corruption of a minor, both felonies, were dropped.Morey admitted having sexual intercourse with a then 15-year-old boy around Sept. 18, 2013, in the Palmerton area. Morey was scheduled to go on trial on the charges on Monday but instead entered a plea agreement with the district attorney.Public Defender Attorney Gregory Lee Mousseau told Matika a defense to the charges was discussed with Morey. The defense was that she didn't know the age of the victim. However, Mousseau said his client agreed to the plea agreement.The charge falls under the provisions of Megan's Law. Matika told Morey that at the time of sentencing she would be ordered to register as a sexual offender for the next 25 years.He also said Morey had to undergo an evaluation by the state sexual offenders board to determine if she is a sexual violent predator, also mandated by the law.Sentencing was deferred so Morey could undergo the assessment procedure. Matika also ordered the adult probation office to prepare a presentence investigation report.
