A Carbon County man who threatened his wife with a knife entered a guilty plea in Carbon County court on Thursday.

Kenneth Robert Kondash, 37, of Beaver Meadows, pleaded guilty in two pending cases including burglary and aggravated assault for an incident on Aug. 4, 2014, at the home of estranged wife, Brianna Paulshock, and to simple assault and disorderly conduct for an incident on June 1, 2014, in Tresckow involving Richard Porpigilo as the victim. In a plea bargain with the district attorney's office charges of criminal trespass, terroristic threats, simple assault and reckless endangerment were dropped in the case involving his wife. The agreement also calls for a term of three to six years in a state prison.Judge Joseph J. Matika, who accepted the pleas, warned Kondash that the court was not a party to the plea dealing and the recommended jail term. Matika said he could impose another sentence either longer or shorter in length, depending on what he decides from the facts and a presentence investigation report which the adult probation office will prepare. The incident with his estranged wife occurred at her home in Beaver Meadows.State police at Hazleton said Kondash entered the home and confronted Brianna Paulshock while she was asleep with her 7-year-old son.He pointed a knife at her throat and wanted her to leave with him. He told her they both were "going to die that night."Paulshock refused to go and pushed Kondash into a bathroom. Paulshock managed to call her mother, Kelly Paulshock, for help.During the struggle, Brianna Paulshock grabbed the knife and would not let go. At this point Kondash began to bite her on the arm.Paulshock's brother, Andrew Paulshock, then arrived with a shotgun and told Kondash to stop biting his sister. A struggled ensued as Kondash continued to bite her arm.Andrew Paulshock then hit Kondash on the head with the butt of the gun. Kondash then stopped biting his wife and struggled to get the gun away from Andrew Paulshock. The gun discharged at least twice during the struggle.Kondash eventually fled the home and was later arrested. At the time of the incident Paulshock had a protection from abuse order against Kondash.Kondash has been in the county prison since his arrest on Aug. 4, 2014.
