A Jim Thorpe man had been charged with promoting prostitution, but prosecutors agreed to drop that charge and instead charge him with the summary complaint of disorderly conduct.
James E. Berger, 56, of Maple Shade Drive, had been arrested for an offense that police said occurred at 2:50 p.m. Feb. 22.The affidavit says Berger offered a female $100 to $200 in cash for sex.The female said, according to the affidavit, that at one point Berger got behind her and began "rubbing up behind me."The charges were reduced at the request of the defense attorney and agreed upon by the district attorney's office just before a scheduled hearing Wednesday before District Judge Edward Lewis of Jim Thorpe.
