3 waive hearings on heroin charges

Three Lehighton people arrested by the Carbon County Drug Task Force for heroin possession and other charges, waived their preliminary hearings Wednesday before District Judge Edward Lewis of Jim Thorpe.

Casey A. Kreiger, 28; Zoey Danielle Bartenope, 18, and Raymond Larue Sittler, 24, were all arrested on March 18. Kreiger's arrest was at a separate location from the other defendants.The arresting officer was patrolman Tyler Meek of the Mahoning Township Police Department.Kreiger is charged with possession with intent to manufacture or deliver heroin, criminal use of a communication facility, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.He is in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000, 10 percent bail.He was arrested at 12:42 p.m. on March 18 on South Second Street in Lehighton.Meek writes in the affidavit that he was working a narcotic investigation with the Carbon County Drug Task Force. He said that during the investigation, a deal was made to purchase a bundle (10 bags) of heroin from Kreiger.At 12:42 p.m., Kreiger delivered the bags to Meek, who paid him $80, the affidavit says.Bartenope was originally jailed, but had her bail reduced from $50,000 monetary to $50,000 unsecured.She was charged with possession with intent to manufacture or deliver, criminal conspiracy, criminal use of a communication facility, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.Sittler is incarcerated in the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $50,000 monetary bail.Both were arrested at about 3:15 p.m. on March 18 on North Fourth Street.Sittler was using the name "Fresh," according to the affidavit. Meek said he made a deal to buy a brick (50 bags) of heroin from Fresh, who was with a 16-year-old male. Sitler had the 50 bags of heroin in his possession, according to the court document.Carbon County Drug Task Force officers then went to the home of Sitler and spoke with Bartenope.Bartenope surrendered $580, which she stated was given to her by Sitler, the affidavit said.During the interview with Meek, he said Bartenope removed a brick of heroin from her bra.
