BETHLEHEM - Jade Farquhar spent the last four years wearing Palmerton's blue and white on the basketball court.

On Saturday, the senior and Colonial League's Most Valuable Player sported that No. 13 jersey one last time, even if it wasn't necessarily for her high school per se.Farquhar was one of 15 TIMES NEWS area players that were named to Saturday's quadruple-double lineup of basketball games at the Via All-Star Basketball Classic at Northampton Community College's Spartan Center Gymnasium."I was happy I got to play in my jersey one more time," Farquhar said. "I had my two best friends and my best teammates, who I've been together with for 13 years, by my side. It meant a lot to me to end my season like this."The Palmerton senior scored 13 points for the West team, who fell to the East all-stars 83-70.But while her squad finished on the losing end of the scoreboard, Saturday's contest was more than just victories and defeats. In addition to playing with a number of fellow Colonial League players she would normally call opponents during the regular season, Farquhar spent some time on the floor with members of the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference as well."I got to meet all the girls that we've not necessarily liked for four years," Farquhar said. "It was really great to meet everyone, and to help all of the special needs kids. It was a really good experience to go through with these people, get closer with them, and learn about them and what they've been through in their four years."There was also a special moment for the other two Palmerton Via all-stars - seniors Abby Reimer (two points) and Madison Mummey - who took the court together one last time as a trio."It was a great game. It was so much fun. There was no pressure, and it was for a good cause. It was really a great meeting."Northern Lehigh's Jessica Olewine scored six points for the West all-stars, while Northwestern's duo of Sabrina Mertz and Sarah Segan combined for eight. In the first game of Via's "Super Saturday", Pleasant Valley's combination of Shante Benjamin (seven points) and Jenesa Fields scored nine for the North all-stars. The South team prevailed, 81-79, in large part to 25 points from Bethlehem Catholic's Kalista Walters. On the boys' side, Pleasant Valley's Eric Marbury scored 11 points - one of five all-stars in double figures scoring - to help the North down the South all-stars, 105-82, in the second game."It meant a lot to me because we're all brothers," Marbury said. "We share a brotherhood. It's fun to compete against your friends and all."The North built an early 20-point lead in the first half and was never threatened over the final 20 minutes of play.Marbury teamed up with fellow Pleasant Valley teammate Bryan Sharpe, who scored three points in the North's win. He also got the chance to suit up with fellow EPC players from the North and give some of the Lehigh Valley's top talent their best shot."It's fun beating up on them any time you get a chance to," Marbury said. "They kind of beat us in the regular season pretty bad."In the final game of the afternoon, the East all-stars outlasted the West down the stretch to secure an 87-84 victory.Palmerton's Ben Weber scored 12 for the West, while teammate Mark Quinn added nine. Lehighton was represented by Tyler Crum and Jordan Knappenberger (nine points), while Northwestern's Cam Richardson added five. The basketball games on Saturday concluded the Via events, but there was plenty more prior to the on-court showcases. The players also attended a banquet featuring guest speaker Doug Flutie, and took time the prior weekend to assist in a clinic for athletes with special abilities.
