Two Hazleton men have been arrested by the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office after they sold heroin to an undercover officer this week.

Anthony Jordan Vega, 19, of 400 Mine St., and Joshua Ynoe Mejia, 23, of 525 W. First St., were taken into custody Thursday evening in the area of building three in the Gypsy Hill Garden Apartments in Lehighton.According to the affidavit, at 7:15 p.m., a confidential informant met with the pair to purchase narcotics. Prior to the meet, the informant made contact with the defendants, requesting heroin.Vega and Mejia agreed to meet in a common area at Gypsy Hill.Agents from the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Bureau of Narcotics Investigation and Drug Control team, as well as Carbon County Drug Task Force personnel set up surveillance around the area.Around 8 p.m., a gray Volvo arrived, and the informant identified the pair as Vega and Mejia. Officers moved in and placed the two under arrest.Following the arrest, a search was conducted and agents discovered 130 bags of suspected heroin, as well as over $1,000 in cash. The team did not complete a field test on the narcotic because it was suspected to contain a high threat level of Fentanyl, which has been found in recent seizures, and posed a high threat of poisoning the officers who would test it, the affidavit reports.Vega and Mejia are charged with possession with intent to deliver, criminal conspiracy and possession of a controlled substance.Earlier this week, Nesquehoning police charged Mejia with various drug-related charges after he was stopped by borough police for failing to stop at a stop sign.During that arrest, officers found Mejia to be in possession of a total of 250 bags of heroin, synthetic weed and a large quantity of money. He also does not have a driver's license and admitted to smoking marijuana before driving. He was also driving a vehicle, owned by Brittaney Vincent, 20, of Lehighton. She was charged with numerous drug-related charges on Wednesday by Lehighton police.According to various news reports, Vega also has a history of drug-related offenses.
