Lehigh Valley Business honors LCCC's Bieber

Lehigh Carbon Community College President Dr. Ann D. Bieber has been named one of the Women of Influence by Lehigh Valley Business for her contributions as a leader at Lehigh Carbon Community College, as an advocate for students, her philanthropy and partnerships in the community, and her work through community services and volunteerism.

Lehigh Valley Business will award Dr. Bieber, along with 24 other women of influence at noon May 19 at Cedar Crest College in Allentown.In July 2014, Bieber was named the first female president in the history of Lehigh Carbon Community College, culminating more than 30 years with the institution.While previously serving as a vice president at LCCC, she saw the need and the potential for additional funding and raised $11 million over five years as part of the college's capital campaign. She sees opportunities and has the energy and focus to make ideas come to fruition and is skillful in garnering support throughout the community.She is credited with creating partnerships with business and industry leaders, community organizations and economic development authorities and leading new initiatives which have resulted in programs to assist businesses in maintaining a skilled workforce.She was recently appointed to the Carbon County and Economic Development Board of Directors and to the Board of Directors of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of the Lehigh Valley. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Carbon County Chamber of Commerce and the Fé Foundation Board of Trustees, as well as the Manufacturers Resource Center, which helps small and mid-sized manufacturers become more competitive, adopt lean and agile processes, strategically grow their companies and invest more effectively in their existing human capital.This year, Lehigh Carbon Community College was recognized a Top Workplaces 2015 employer through The Morning Call. The evaluation was based on employee feedback, reinforcing the work of Bieber and her leadership team to not only serve students in the area, but also to make the college a great place to work.
