Easter egg hunts a popular spring event

It's time for Easter egg hunts. Here are a few in our area:

This week:East Penn Elementary School Spring Fling, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. Free egg hunt for children through age 10.Craft show, kids carnival to benefit East Penn Elementary PTO.Tamaqua Community Egg Hunt, noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, Bungalow Park, Tamaqua.VFW Sponsored Egg Hunt, 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Lehighton Borough's lower parkThe West End Park and Open Space Commission, 1 p.m. Saturday at the Ross Township Park, Anchorage Road, Saylorsburg, for ages 10 and under. The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures.Weissport annual egg hunt for children and grandchildren of Weissport residents, 1 p.m. Saturday at the Weissport park.• Zion Lutheran Church in Brodheadsville, community Easter activity at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church. It is open to those age 3 through grade five and will include face painting, an Easter egg hunt with prizes, and lunch available for purchase. To register, call the church at 570-992-6988. Proceeds will be used to help those in need.• Palmerton, 11 a.m. Saturday at the Memorial Park• Palmerton borough park, 1 p.m. Saturday in the park.• Ebenezer UMC egg hunt begins at 10 a.m. Saturday in the upper end of the Lehighton Borough Park. Children ages 3 to 12 are welcome. Rain Date is April 4.Next week:• Easter Egg Hunt, 1 to 4 p.m. April 4, South Ward Fire Company, Van Gelder Street, Tamaqua.• Marian High School in Hometown hosts an Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. April 4 at the high school campus sponsored by the Marian Student Council and the Marian Development Office. Open to children up to and including in second grade.• St. Matthew's UCC Church will hold its Easter egg party from 1 to 3 p.m. April 4 in the Church Grove. Children age 0-12 years old are invited.
