BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) - A 17-year-old who broke into an apartment and attempted to rape and kill a Lehigh University student last July has been sentenced to 28½ to 80 years in prison.
A prosecutor at Bryan Sanchez-Osorio's sentencing Thursday said the Puerto Rico native "has absolutely no boundaries" with aggression and was a very high re-offense risk.
A judge called Sanchez-Osorio's actions "monstrous" and said he shouldn't be left alone with female correctional officers.
Sanchez-Osorio pleaded guilty in February to charges including attempted murder and attempted rape.
Prosecutors say Sanchez-Osorio broke into the 23-year-old student's bedroom, tore off her underpants and choked her until she turned blue.
Sanchez-Osorio had been hospitalized in Puerto Rico for aggressive behavior and suicidal thoughts.
He moved to Bethlehem to live with a sister and receive additional treatment.
