A Schuylkill County man is facing charges following incident that occurred early Tuesday morning.
State police at Schuylkill Haven identified the suspect as Patrick Magrosky Jr., 23, of Auburn.According to troopers sometime between 1 and 3 a.m. Magrosky and a friend arrived at 440 Meadow Drive in South Manheim Township, property of the state Department of Environmental Protection. A hole was cut in a chain-link fence to gain entry to the property. They then removed about 1 ton of scrap steel into a bed of a pickup.Several hours later an employee of the DEP located the vehicle containing the scrap metal taken. It was a short distance from the crime scene, troopers said.Troopers then made contact with Magrosky and illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia were found. Magrosky was arrested and transported to the Schuylkill Medical Center-South Jackson Street in Pottsville, for a blood test. A driving under the influence charge is pending the test results.Magrosky was arraigned by District Judge James Ferrier of Orwigsburg on DUI, drug and theft counts. Bail was set at $5,000 straight cash. Magrosky was unable to post bail and was committed to the county prison in Pottsville.Troopers did not indicate if the friend mentioned in the original theft was charged.
