Turnpike work to affect 903 traffic

The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission advises motorists that work associated with the construction of the turnpike's new Route 903 All-Electronic Interchange will resume this week with the installation of several overhead signs across Route 903 and the Northeastern Extension (I-476) in Penn Forest Township.

During construction of the new $22.4-million All-Electronic Interchange (E-ZPass Only Exit 87), periodic traffic stoppages of no more than 20 minutes each will occur between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. from Tuesday to Friday on Route 903. The stoppages are necessary for the protection of motorists and workers during the erection of two overhead signs that will span Route 903 near the new interchange.Starting at 9 a.m. daily, motorists on Route 903 should be prepared for as many as six stoppages until approximately 3 p.m. The work is weather dependent and the contractor's scheduled work could be delayed or canceled. Message boards will be activated to alert drivers to any changes in the schedule.Another overhead sign will be erected on the turnpike mainline near the approach of the I-476 northbound exit ramp to the interchange. When work begins, the contractor will close the right lane northbound from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.For project related information, including construction and travel updates, visit:
