Area women to be featured on Cheerios boxes

Elizabeth Everett and Sally Collister have become acquainted with one another due to their job as associates at ShopRite in Brodheadsville.

The women are about to be linked even closer together as the duo will be featured on a special-edition Cheerios box sold exclusively at ShopRite stores.Everett, of Lehighton, and Collister, of Saylorsburg, were selected by ShopRite of Brodheadsville to be featured on 125,000 special-edition Cheerios boxes.The box was unveiled Monday during a ceremony at the ShopRite of Brodheadsville, 107 Kinsley Drive, Brodheadsville.ShopRite associates across six states banded together last September in a friendly competition sponsored by ShopRite and General Mills, the annual ShopRite Partners In Caring Cheerios Contest.Among this year's winning stores was the ShopRite of Brodheadsville, which chose Everett and Collister to be featured on the Cheerios boxes.The contestThe theme of this year's contest was "Providing Hope to the Hungry" and in this spirit, ShopRite associates collected donations at check-out and held various events, raising $1.27 million to support regional food banks in communities served by ShopRite stores.Each of the winning stores was able to have two ShopRite associates to be featured on a special-edition Cheerios box.Additionally, each winning store was awarded funds $3,000 for the top five stores, and $500 for the remaining winning stores that will be presented to local food pantries chosen by their store team."The ShopRite Partners In Caring program has been providing hope to the hungry in our communities for more than 15 years," said Christine Magyarits, spokeswoman for ShopRite Partners In Caring."This contest highlights the 'partners' in the program our dedicated ShopRite associates, our generous customers, and one of our longtime vendor partners, General Mills, who shares our passion for helping those in need of food assistance."Other winning stores in the state were ShopRite of Daleville in Covington Township, ShopRite of Hatfield, ShopRite of Snyder Avenue in Philadelphia.Since its inception in 1999, ShopRite Partners In Caring has donated nearly $37 million to more than 1,700 charities.ShopRite Partners In Caring supports emergency food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, child care centers, battered women's shelters, senior citizen programs, drug rehab centers, programs for the mentally and physically disabled, after-school programs and other organizations that aid those in need.The ShopRite Partners In Caring Fund was established in 2002 as a component fund of the Community Foundation of New Jersey to accept private donations that help fund its charitable endeavors.For more information, or to learn how you can help, visit
