A Monroe County man has been charged with assault counts as the result of a domestic incident in which the victim sustained serious injuries.

Pocono Mountain Regional police said on March 11 about 2 a.m. officers were dispatched to 1444 Pocono Boulevard in Mount Pocono for a domestic assault with injuries involving a weapon.On scene officers took a male into custody, identified as Wilfredo Diaz Jr., 26, of that address. A female told officers that Diaz assaulted her by striking her about her face numerous times with a weapon. Police did not identify the weapon used.The female was transported to the Pocono Medical Center in East Stroudsburg for treatment of serious injuries, police said.Diaz was arraigned on charges of aggravated and simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, terroristic threats and harassment. He was placed in the Monroe County Correctional Facility in Snydersville after failing to post $50,000 bail.
