Over the years he has worked in the capacity of sergeant, deputy warden and acting warden twice."It feels good," he said after the meeting of his appointment. "It's something I've thought about, but if you told me 20 years ago I was going to be warden I would have thought you were crazy."It always feels good when you excel in your position, but it's going to be a challenge. Corrections is a field where you come in and every day is going to be different."Fritz said he is looking forward to working in this new capacity. Are there changes he would like to implement? Not at this time."Things are working well, morale seems to be good and we're just going to move forward and get in compliance with the Department of Corrections with our policies," he said. "It's going to be business as usual."Fritz thanked the board for having the confidence in his ability to lead the prison and said that he has worked well with the prison board and county administration over the past few months.Commissioner Thomas J. Gerhard, prison board president, said the county feels it chose the right person for the job."Tim has been here at the facility for over 23 years," Gerhard said."The thing we like about him is he has established a line of communication with not only the prison board and its members, but also with our county administrator. We have a lot of faith and confidence in Tim and think he's going to do a great job."The Carbon County Salary Board will now set Fritz's annual salary at its meeting today.
