One dead in three-car Tamaqua crash

One person was ejected from a vehicle and fatally injured in a three-car collision Sunday in Tamaqua.

Emergency responders were dispatched to 546 Center Street, Route 309, near the area of the Country Tile shop shortly after 8 a.m.

While details of the collision are still unclear, all three cars came to rest on the southbound side of the highway, with one vehicle vaulting onto a plowed snow bank.

The crash occurred in an area known as Dead Man's Curve, just north of the former White Diner/Jones Grille.

Information about the identity of victims or their injuries have not been revealed.

The crash took place during morning snowfall.

The collision is currently under investigated by Tamaqua police.

Traffic was closed in both directions until shortly before 10 a.m.

Due to the severity of the crash, police have requested that photos of the vehicles not be published until families can be notified.
