Raising the House run is scheduled
The memory of a dearly loved teacher in the Palmerton Area School District will continue to live on.
In honor of Blaine R. House, the second annual Raising the House 5k run/walk is set for March 21 in the borough park.The race begins at 9 a.m. Registration starts at 7:45 a.m. on the day of the race.The registration fee is $25 before race day and $30 on race day. Race shirts are guaranteed to people who register before Tuesday.Individuals may pick up their registration packs ahead of time from 6-8 p.m. March 20 at the Palmerton Area High School cafeteria, or at the park the day of the race.Register at

The team that has the most members registered will have a $200 scholarship awarded in their name to a Palmerton Area High School senior.There will also be sweatshirts available for sale. He had been a Towamensing Elementary teacher for many years before his untimely death.Profits from last year's event were used to purchase fitness equipment for Towamensing Elementary, and $10,000 was awarded to the Blaine R. House Memorial Scholarship established at Palmerton Area High School.Kelli Costenbader, of the Blaine R. House Memorial Fund committee, said the event is being held in his memory to support the group's mission to provide financial assistance to students and families within the Palmerton Area School District."The Raising the House Committee truly appreciates all the support we have received from local businesses and the community," Costenbader said. "It is very humbling to be part of a community that is so supportive and works as a collective unit to improve the lives of members of the neighborhood."Once again, a portion of the profits go to the Blaine R. House Memorial Scholarship Fund established by the Palmerton Area School District, Costenbader said.Those who would like to contribute financially to the race may send their donations to Raising the House, P.O.
