2 charged for stealing $159 in baby formula

Lansford police say two people who appeared to be under the influence were caught stealing 11 containers of baby formula from a borough supermarket.

Crystal Joy Milner, 29, and Jacob Bynon, 33, both of 305 E. Patterson St., Lansford, were charged in the incident.Police found that both had warrants issued for them by the Schuylkill County Adult Probation department for drug-related offenses.Police released the information Saturday.According to an affidavit of probable cause filed by Officer Jason Helmer, he was called to Boyer's Market at 7:18 p.m. Oct. 8.Several employees told him they saw a man and a woman putting several containers of Similac formula into a large bag the woman was carrying. The employees identified the two as Milner and Bynon, and said they appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.Employees confronted the two as they approached the store exit, but they ran out, got into a car and left.Helmer knew Milner and Bynon, and recognized the employee's description of the car as one belonging to Bynon's mother, and knew Milner and Bynon often borrowed it.Helmer checked Bynon's house and the surrounding area, but did not find him.Milner, who has previous retail theft offenses, was arrested, jailed under $2,000 bail, then released on $2,000 unsecured bail.The containers of formula were worth $159.17.
