Dogs play in the snow, wait for a home

The dogs at the Carbon County Animal Shelter, located at 63 Broad St., on the Broad Mountain in Nesquehoning, were excited by the snow on Monday. Some enjoyed playing in the fluffy white stuff, while others hunkered down in their kennels to stay warm. As of Monday, 12 dogs were available for adoption, but Tom Connors, director at the shelter, said the number changes daily as dogs get adopted and others come in. For more information on the dogs available, visit the shelter Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or call 570-325-4828. Shaina Poshefko of Walnutport stops with Tank, a new dog that will soon be available at the county animal shelter, on Monday before taking him for a walk.
