Tamaqua woman causes disturbance

A Tamaqua woman celebrated a little too much at a Christmas party and ended up sending most of the night in jail.

Tamaqua Police were dispatched to the unit block of Nescopec Street at 1:20 a.m. for a reported disturbance. On scene, they found Tia Marie Amber Wick, 24, of 214 Race St., Tamaqua. Wick was visibly intoxicated and said she had been celebrating at a Christmas party, then called her boyfriend to come and pick her up. When the boyfriend arrived, they argued and, according to her, he took her car and left. However, officers "found" the vehicle parked near the intersection of Nescopec Street and Hegarty Avenue, then offered to give Wick a ride home.Wick provided the Race Street address and a phone number for her babysitter, which officers called. The person at the other end suggested it would be best if they took Wick to her mother's house as bringing her there could just cause more problems due to her intoxication and the argument she had with the boyfriend, who also resides there. The babysitter agreed to keep watching the minor children overnight.Officers then called Wick's parents and transported her to their Hunter Street home. But, it didn't end there. At 2:11 a.m., officers were dispatched to 214 Race St. after Wick and the babysitter both called to report a disturbance. Wick continued to be loud, yelling and disorderly, saying she wanted her kids and to be allowed to enter the home.An agreement was reached to transfer the children to Wick's mother, who was also present. As the children and their personal items were collected, Wick again became belligerent. When she refused to calm down and be quiet, she was taken to the police station for a nap.She was released at 7 a.m. with citations for disorderly conduct.
