Connecting business, community

The Carbon Young Professionals Council is a group of committee young professionals who desire to bridge intergenerational business in Carbon County through professional, educational, and philanthropic endeavors, and provide personal and professional growth.

The CYPC is a council of the Carbon Chamber and is working to make a solid foundation and positive name in the community. This past June, the CYPC hosted the first-ever Adventure Race in Carbon County. The event was well-attended, and lasting memories were made for all who participated. The focus of the physical challenges was to bring teams of people together for a common cause, and that is at the core of what the YPC is looking to do in Carbon County as a whole. With a mission of philanthropy and involvement, the CYPC was excited to help make the annual tree lighting in Lehighton a success. Over 170 children and their parents attended the traditional event this year and dozens of businesses were recognized for their generosity. The council finished out the year with a free meet and greet hosted at the Broadway Grille & Pub in Jim Thorpe. Attendees had an evening full of holiday fun and met with other young professionals and seasoned mentors to build lasting business relationships.Events such as these are just some of the ways the CYPC and the Carbon Chamber provide platforms for expanding your networking circles, seek mentorship and education opportunities and explore rewarding career paths. As a member of the CYPC you will also be contributing to the success of our communities, gaining valuable awareness and knowledge of our local government, providing and participating in volunteer efforts, and helping foster economic development and growth in our county. In the coming year, the CYPC is looking to grow. We invite you to join us at our first meeting of the New Year slated for 5:30 p.m. Jan. 21 at the Carbon Chamber & Economic Development office at 137 South St. in Lehighton.Registration is available online but not necessary, and meetings are free to attend. For more information, call 484-274-2080, visit our website at
