Palmerton employees recognized for service

Several long-tenured Palmerton employees have been recognized for their years of service to the borough.

Among the borough employees who were recognized by borough council on Thursday were Dennis Behler, public works department, 30 years; Randy Smith, police department, 30 years; Rodger Danielson, borough manager, 25 years; John Rupell, police department, 25 years; Joel George, public works department, five years; and Trevor Flexer, police department, five years.Afterward, Councilwoman Holly Sell congratulated the employees for their longevity.Commission and board appointmentsAlso on Thursday, council filled several board and commission appointments as well.Among those selected to fill terms were:• Elizabeth Kromer, Planning Commission, term expires Dec. 31, 2018.• Jeremy Barbosa, Planning Commission, term expires Dec. 31, 2018.• Joseph Lower, Municipal Authority, term expires Dec. 31, 2019.• Gerald Robertson, Zoning Hearing Board, term expires Dec. 31, 2017.• S.J. Elton, UCC Board of Appeals, term expires Dec. 31, 2019.• Jeremy Barbosa, Palmerton Hospital Authority, term expires Dec. 31, 2018.• Linda Wilk, Board of Health, term expires Dec. 31, 2019.Vacancies remainingCouncil also announced that two vacancies exist on the Board of Health; as well as vacancies on the Shade Tree Commission, as well as a Zoning Hearing Board alternate.Residents who would like to fill the vacancies may submit their letter of interest to the borough office.
