One-car crash in Still Creek traps driver

One man was injured Saturday in Rush Township when his vehicle left the roadway and plunged into a drainage ditch, trapping him inside.

Emergency responders were dispatched at 1:38 p.m. for a report of an injured driver trapped in his vehicle near 211 Ben Titus Road in the Still Creek section.

The driver, Joseph Semasek, 79, McAdoo, the only occupant, was traveling east on Ben Titus Rd in a 1994 Oldsmobile Bravada, said Rush Township Police Sergeant Duane Frederick.

Semasek failed to negotiate a curve, police said, after which his vehicle left the roadway and struck an embankment.

Semasek suffered head and face injuries and refused air medical treatment, police said. However, Semasek was then taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital via ambulance.

The incident is being investigated by Officer Adam Sinton.

Responding were ambulances from Tamaqua and McAdoo, along with Hometown Fire Police.

The car was removed from the scene by Hope's Towing and Collision, Tamaqua.
