State police at Frackville are looking for a Carbon County area man in connection with an incident in Schuylkill County that occurred on Tuesday morning.

Troopers are looking for Evrin D. Kalkan, 30, whose last known address was Lehighton.According to the police report, at 9:20 a.m. troopers stopped a 1997 black Pontiac Grand Prix bearing a Colorado registration plate for speeding along Route 895 in the village of McKeansburg, East Brunswick Township. At the stop a "positive" response was received as "wanted" for the driver, Kalkan. While confirmation of the wanted status was ongoing, which is required procedure, Kalkan drove off through the McKeans Ridge development and fled. A pursuit was limited because of the residential area.Kalkan's name was entered as wanted by Carbon and Lehigh county authorities for warrants issued for him. In addition, troopers plan to file charges in Schuylkill County related to the speeding stop.Troopers noted that responses to the wanted notice indicated that Kalkan was known to law enforcement in the Lehighton area.Carbon County court records show that on April 30 a bench warrant was issued for Kalkan's arrest for failure to appear for a preliminary hearing on a charge of driving under the influence of a controlled substance filed by state police at Lehighton. A second bench warrant was issued for his arrest on June 17 when he failed to appear for a pretrial conference concerning the same case at the courthouse in Jim Thorpe.
