Four hurt in Hometown crash

Four women were sent to the hospital with injuries after a two-car collision Monday on Route 309 in Hometown.

According to Sgt. Duane Frederick of Rush Township Police, a 2006 Chevrolet Equinox driven by Stacey Bosworth, 44, of Lansford, rear-ended a 2002 Honda operated by Megan McClintock, 17, Weatherly, about 4:36 p.m. Police said the McClintock vehicle was stopped at the intersection of Claremont Avenue (Route 309) and Lincoln Drive.Both drivers were injured, along with a passenger Bosworth's vehicle, Brenda Gigli, 38, Tamaqua.Also injured was a passenger in the Honda, 42-year-old Tina McClintock, no address given.All were transported to St Luke's Hospital - Miners Campus in Coaldale.Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene and traffic was backed up during the busy commuting hour while the vehicles were removed from the scene and road cleanup was completed.The collision took place near the area of Basile's Italian Restaurant, at the same location of an Oct. 1 fatal crash and the scene of several collisions over the past two years.Rush Township Police are investigating. Frederick indicated Bosworth was at fault and will face traffic violations.
