SCRANTON, Pa. (AP) - A Pennsylvania state police trooper who was shot and wounded by a sniper two months ago has been taken to a hospital in New York City.

The Times-Tribune of Scranton (http://bit.ly/1pNEyyr) reports that an ambulance transported Trooper Alex Douglass to the Hospital for Special Surgery on Monday night.

State police Lt. Christopher Paris declined to provide specifics on why Douglass was taken to the hospital but says it wasn't an emergency. The hospital specializes in orthopedics.

The Sept. 12 ambush outside the Blooming Grove barracks killed Cpl. Bryon Dickson and seriously wounded Douglass, who was shot in the pelvis. He spent more than a month in the hospital before being transferred to a rehabilitation center.

The suspect, Eric Frein (freen), was captured following a 48-day manhunt.
