Lehighton resident Celeste Silvonek, second from left presents the Carbon County Commissioners, from left, Thomas J. Gerhard; Wayne Nothstein, chairman; and William O'Gurek, with a check in the amount of $500 to be used at the Carbon County Animal Shelter.Silvonek, a retired teacher, donated the money in memory of her12-year-old dog Dain, who passed away this past August. She said she was impressed at the shelter's new education room and felt she wanted to help the dogs as a way to keep her beloved dog's memory alive.
