Pleas entered in 11 DUIs

Eleven defendants in pending driving under the influence cases entered guilty pleas in Carbon County court on Thursday during a daylong session.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II accepted the pleas from the following:Has firearmDaniel George Reiss Jr., 25, of Bethlehem, also pleaded to one count of firearms not to be carried without a license.He was arrested on March 29, 2013, when state police at Lehighton found him parked along the berm of Route 248 in Parryville. He was found to be under the influence of alcohol. A test revealed a 0.11 BAC.Also found in the vehicle was a loaded gun, which Reiss was prohibited from carrying.Reiss is currently in the Lehigh County prison facing other criminal charges.On the firearms count, Nanovic sentenced him to serve three to 18 months in the county prison followed by one year of probation. On the DUI charge he was sentenced to serve 30 days to six months in prison, concurrent to the first charge.He was also ordered to get a D&A evaluation, pay a $1,000 fine on the DUI charge, and have his license suspended for a year. He was given credit for 21 days spent in prison on the charges.Eugene F. Blaney Jr., 68, of Kunkletown, was arrested on Jan. 15 by state police along Route 209 in Towamensing Township. He also pleaded to driving under suspension-DUI related. Given a test, the result was 0.21 BAC. The conviction is his fourth for DUI.On the DUI count Nanovic sentenced him to serve 90 days to one day less two years in the county prison, pay a fine of $2,500, have his license suspended for a year, and ordered him to get a D&A evaluation. On the suspension count he was sentenced to serve 90 days in jail, concurrent with the DUI charge, and pay a fine of $1,000.He was given credit for 13 days already spent in jail on the charges.Robert Edmund Pavelski, 33, of Kunkletown, was arrested on Nov. 24, 2013, by state police at Lehighton following a traffic stop along Route 209 in Franklin Township. A test revealed the presence of a controlled substance. He also pleaded to driving under suspension-DUI related.On the DUI count Nanovic sentenced him to serve six months to five years in the county prison, pay a fine of $1,500, have his license suspended for 18 months, and get a D&A evaluation. On the suspension count he was sentenced to serve 90 days in jail, concurrent with the DUI charge, and a fine of $1,000. He was given credit for 55 days already spent in jail on the charges.He is currently in jail on a failure to appear warrant.James Gabriel Cardamone, 49, of Ardmore, Montgomery County, was arrested on April 19 along Route 209 in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result was 0.15 BAC.A first offense, Nanovic placed him on probation for six months, ordered he get a D&A evaluation, and pay a fine of $300. On a summary motor vehicle code violation he was fined $25 and costs.Larry A. Nothstein, 57, of Palmerton, was arrested on Feb. 23 along Route 209 in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. Given at a test, the result was 0.14 BAC.Nanovic placed him on probation for six months and ordered he get a D&A evaluation and pay a fine of $300.Michael Richard Stein, 39, of Lehighton, was arrested on Dec. 4, 2013, along Pohopoco Drive in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. He also pleaded to two counts of simple assault involving troopers Michael Sofranko and Brian Shandra as the victims. When placed under arrest he struggled with the troopers, kicking both of them.Nanovic deferred sentencing to a later date.Patricia Carullo, 49, of Mount Pocono, was arrested on Aug. 8, 2013, along Route 209 in Franklin Township by township police. Given a test, the result showed the presence of a controlled substance. She also pleaded to recklessly endangering another person.When arrested, she was driving her vehicle the wrong way on 209 and collided head-on with another vehicle, injuring a passenger in that vehicle, which led to the endangering charge.Nanovic deferred sentencing.Bradley K. Lafaw, 27, of Lehighton, was arrested on July 6 along Forest Inn Road in Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result showed the presence of a controlled substance.Nanovic sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension, and get a D&A evaluation.He will begin the jail term at noon on Sept. 29.Kimberly A. Molle, 41, of Lansford, was arrested on Nov. 23, 2013, in the parking lot of the state police barracks in Towamensing Township, where she had driven to address another matter. Given a test, the result showed the presence of a controlled substance.Nanovic sentenced her to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension, and get a D&A evaluation.She will begin the jail term at 9 a.m. on Sept. 22.Raymond Mario Watson, 54, of Lehighton, was arrested on April 12 along Route 248 in Franklin Township by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result was 0.11 BAC.Nanovic sentenced him to serve five days to six months in jail, a fine of $750, one-year license suspension, and get a D&A evaluation.He began the prison term immediately.David Homer Imler Jr., 23, of Kunkletown, was arrested on April 19 along Route 248 in Lower Towamensing Township by state police at Lehighton. Given a test, the result showed the presence of a controlled substance. He also pleaded to possession of drug paraphernalia.On the DUI charge, Nanovic sentenced him to serve 72 hours to six months in jail, a fine of $1,000, one-year license suspension, and get a D&A evaluation.On the possession count he was placed on probation for six months consecutive to the DUI charge.He will begin the jail term at 5 p.m. on Sept. 26.Each defendant sentenced must also pay court costs, which average about $1,500, and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while on probation or parole.
