A young Jim Thorpe man was seriously injured late Sunday afternoon when involved in a crash in Franklin Township.

The crash occurred at 5 p.m. at the intersection of Fairyland and Harrity roads. It appeared the driver of a Ford Expedition was traveling west on Fairyland road and attempted to make a left turn onto Harrity Road, turning into the path of the east bound bike.

The motorcycle came to rest under the front of the SUV.

The victim was treated at the scene by Lehighton paramedics then placed onto a PennStar helicopter. As the craft was lifting off the pilot aborted the mission landing back at the landing zone experiencing a mechanical problem.

Franklin Township police are investigating the incident.
